PROFILE : ABOUT HABIT

HABIT Research is a biotelemetry instrument manufacturing and research company specializing in wildlife and human applications in both marine and terrestrial environments. Our products evolved from those developed, prototyped and tested by Dr. Jeff Goodyear and associates. Researchers from all over the world applied and tested many of these products that led to significant refinements now available to HABIT Research customers. Greater simplicity in instrument set-up in the field, greater reliability in software and hardware and significant size reduction in all products are among the most valuable improvements.

HABIT Research strives to make simple, reliable VHF radio and Argos satellite-linked biotelemetry and data logging tools for the field researcher. Our products survive the harshest field conditions and suit nearly all applications.

“I am a marine biologist with over thirty years of field experience in marine and terrestrial animal research. This research has focused primarily on behaviour and habitat-use of large whales and analysis of their three-dimensional aquatic world. My research questions have inevitably required the application of basic and complex biotelemetry and data logging systems. Since these tools were not commercially available, my associates and I developed them to satisfy my own research needs. As my own research is ongoing and ever expanding, all improvements and new approaches are incorporated into HABIT Research products and services, further benefiting our customers.
